He left behind his American dream to bring light to villages in Bihar. Gynesh Pandey established Husk Power System (HPS), which uses rice husk to generate electricity, with Manoj Sinha and Ratnesh Yadav. Today, HPS supplies eight to 10 hours of power to 18,500 households in some of the off-grid villages, where the state-run electricity board doesn't reach. Over 1.5 lakh rural Indians have benefited from this and around 250 people have got employed.

Dr REGI M GEORGE AND DR LALITHA REGI (SOUTH)
Tamil Nadu's Sitilingi valley had the highest infant and maternal mortality rate in the country. That's till a doctor couple from Kerala, Regi and Lalitha George decided to make this place their home. In the last two decades the doctors have worked tirelessly to set up the Tribal Health Initiative. What started off as a clinic from a thatched hut is now a 24 bed hospital. And infant mortality rate has come down to 20 per 1000. Training young tribal girls in nursing, the doctors have made the area self sufficient in health care.

BEZWADA WILSON (SOUTH)
Bezwada Wilson made a shocking discovery about his parents when he was a child. Living in a Dalit colony in Karnataka, he had no idea almost all adults there worked as manual scavengers. An aimless child thinking of dropping out of school, he now decided to fight the plight of manual scavengers. He set up Safaai Karamchari Andolan, holding dharnas and spreading awareness. After making an impact in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, Bezwada is now actively working in UP, Rajasthan and Haryana
